  • My Review of The Passion

This won't be long.  The inherent difficulty in fully connecting to a movie like the Passion is that it goes up against an already established force.  There is a truth in my mind that has been built up through years of Bible study, reading, sermons, and life experiences.  It is not a truth easily moved.  At best, a movie like this attempts to flesh out the details of this truth I already know.  At worst, it replaces it.  What does it come down to?  This, this was not my Jesus.  Nevertheless, I almost cried.  Despite my hardened heart and indignation at being so obviously manipulated (I did make some films in college), I still could not bear to open my eyes for any of the six minutes it took for them to nail him to the cross.  See it, if only because Mel does love the Lord...

  • i heard mixed reviews from pastors... but then again, what does it matter so long as it speaks something to me, eh?

  • The movie's great.  I really liked it.  I think everyone should watch this movie.

  • I do too.  I think though that the people who benefit most will be those who are already Christians.

  • wow hooju, judging by the time of this post, writing about it on xanga was literally the first thing you did when you got home from the movie.  you must have ran straight to your computer when you got through the door, no bathroom, no drink from the kitchen.  i liked the movie too.  with all the controversy surrounding it, i think ultimately more good will come out of it than bad.

  • thanks for the review. Haven't watched it, but I feel the same way. How could someone else's interpretation make Jesus Christ, someone I already know on a personal level, change my views and feelings all that much?
    might watch it, might not.
