  • hey, hey. South Africa is my heart. don't bash.
and it'll one day be one of the BRIC countries. bricS.

  • what? what's wrong with santiago?!?! supposedly it's one of the most beautiful places in south america. sure, there isn't much city life, but think of all the nature!!
how long is your (wife's) post? lucky you. you really married well. :)

  • so hooj, is this for you or for your wifey? i'm confused... and what are you doing again?

  • such an exciting life you live.  this weekend, state is opening application doors for diplomatic security... i'll be applying!!  maybe i'll get assigned to protect you and your wife!

  • that is by far the most informative website i've ever laid my mouse pointer on. THANK YOU!!!

  • Matamoros.  That sounds full of peaceful history.

    Otherwise I'm voting for Berlin...

  • Yo! you might go to Korea?  Cool, maybe you can learn some Korean now.  Are you coming back to US anytime soon?

  • Wherever it is, it better be a fun place to visit or else you're going to be lonely. Ha ha. How has your feelings for Turkey evolved since I left?

  • I'm surprised you put Santiago so low. I'm over there about once or twice a quarter and it's great. You're an hour away from skiing, the beach, an some wineries. It's also pretty easy to head on off for Peru, Argentina, and Brasil. The embassy is quite nice. Dedicated in 1993 under Clinton, it sometimes makes me feel like it's a library, the way it was built. It's also located in an area some locals have termed (SanHattan, like Manhattan, but spanish). The most tech-savy and industrial cities in S.America.

Munich- Not a bad post, except during the Oktoberfest when you've gotta help all those Americans who've lost their passports in a bar/restaurant/street/etc. somewhere.

Frankfurt- In one word, Big. Friends will like it cause it's the airport is an international hub. I did fall in love with being able to get around using the U-bahn.

Luxembourg - Loved it. Beautiful place. But I only was there for a weekend.

Managua - First place I've ever visited where your address is the distance from landmarks (eg. 25 meters north of the second cemetary built in town or 40 meters east from there the national school USED to be.) The Countryside is to die for. It's been a temporary embassy building since 1977, just to warn you.

    Seoul - nuf said.

I can only talk about places I've been to and we all know we're at the mercy of those back in DC. Good luck on all your Bids.
